Sunshine Coast’s Swimsuit Issue are ready to drench the world with their alt indie grunge music. With songs that flow from heavy grunge rockin’ aggression to softer indie tracks, they’ve got something to appeal to your every mood.

Big fans of alt/noise rockers, Sonic Youth, Swimsuit Issue found their band name from the Sonic Youth song, Swimsuit Issue from their classic 1992 album, ‘Dirty’.

Made up of three talented and experienced musicians, Swimsuit Issue are:

Danny Mann - Guitar + Vocals

Rhys Fox - Bass

Tom Murphy - Drums

Frontman Danny brings with him the experience of having been a part of some successful bands throughout his musical career including Townhallsteps and Invaders (UK based). He’s toured with the likes of AWOLNATION, Avril Lavinge, Simple Plan, Gyroscope and One Dollar Short and played alongside Placebo, Inextremo and Suicide Comando. Bassist Rhys is a familiar face in the Sunny Coast music scene and beyond, he plays in alt rock/grunge three piece, Muules and roots/reggae/hip hop band, Bearfoot. Rhys is in touch with the local music scene in a big way as he’s also the name behind The Point Music News. Drummer Tom is a founding member of Swimsuit Issue and along with Danny is the main songwriter of the band. The pair have shared stages and musical projects together before.

Having only formed earlier this year, Swimsuit Issue are a fairly new project, but they have jumped right in and are swimming in the deep end already, playing shows and working on the release of their debut album. The first single, Hey You is set for release in November.

The album was tracked live and was recorded at Yama Nui in Kiels Mountain on the Sunny Coast with Steve Summers and Paulie B (George, Ziggy Alberts, Bobby Alu).

The band also worked with some talented guest musicians on the album such as songbird, Dorah Jacson and Jye Perry Banks (Fender, Stetson, Charlie Collins, Lee Kernighan, Kasey Chambers). The album is yet to be named and is set for release in early 2021.

Swimsuit Issue are eager to get their new music out into the world and are set to make a splash wherever they go and wherever they are heard.
