Bio

It was a chance meeting with the legendary actor who played television's "The Milky Bar Kid" that first inspired our band to pick up some instruments and hit the road. It's since been six months, and we continue to play in his honour - and in his memory. Rest in peace, Milky Bar Kid.

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE MILKY BAR KID

Edward James Emulsifier, better known as the Milky Bar Kid, had a trying childhood. Born into a loving and supportive family, he had what many would regard as an idyllic early life. It goes without saying that after he was in those Milky Bar ads, he had an extremely difficult time at school and it completely destroyed him. And yet, many years on, he still had the grace and foresight to advise a group of young would-be troubadours to learn how to play various pieces of musical equipment and abandon their former careers and loved ones in favour of the "life de la musica". God bless you, MBK - your warmth, raconteurial wit, and overpowering odour of hydrogenated vegetable fat. You're with the angels now, but we'll always be here - to sing your sweet refrains and tell your tale.

Like you've been walking in a snow storm all night, see a light in the distance, and the faint sound of music. Exhausted you walk into the wooden shack and find a fire roasting and the place alive with a gypsy band who have been playing non stop for 3 weeks. They're every bit together and musical but are on some other plane where pianos are played like guitars and the bar is the drum kit. It's jolly, jumpy and people are giving you drinks and hugging you. You dance wearing someones feather boa and the band invite you onstage to play tambourine for a bit. Then suddenly you look around. The room is empty. The band disappears. The fire is gone. And you're back in the snow with the faint sound of drums in the distance.
