Bio

Tanya George creates every element of her music herself, mostly with just her voice, that spans a whopping 4.5 octaves! Listen to new single 'My Hymn' coming July 14 2020.

In 2020 we haven’t been living our normal lives so I wanted to challenge the preconceived notion of what makes ‘normal’ music. I did this by writing songs made only from my vocals instrumentally. I wanted to share the message that voices are powerful when they come together. And in these difficult times, I feel that our collective voices will be what sees us through. I received a Melbourne City Council COVID-19 Arts Grant to release 'My Hymn'.

Tanya released "Writing Machine" in Oct 2019 which went No1 on triple J unearthed Charts and sold out her launch at Horse Bazarre.

"Tanya George; if you don't know the name, now is the time to start paying attention" - Forte Magazine (June, 2020)

"Tanya George's music lures you in swiftly with strong melodic threads and jagged lyrics" - Mark Lizotte (Diesel) (July, 2020)

hymn is a very apt word, it's got a holy and powerful appeal.

Love the mood, the space, and the experimentation on this track. Keep taking chances, you're onto something.

You're using your voice to its full potential to experiment and create a real build! Keep working at the phrasing and lyricism - but you're onto something special.
