Bio

"John Vella’s vocals rise alongside the instrumentation...His falsetto, at times, sits between Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and the Middle East’s Jordan Ireland—hauntingly beautiful and tense at the same time" - AAA Backstage.

After their live show was seen by Audio Network’s global head of music in late 2015, the band were offered the opportunity to record and orchestrate their debut album ’To Be Young’ at Abbey Road Studios in London. The process quickly evolved to include UK Producer/songwriter Julian Emery, most recently noted for his writing and production work with the Nothing But Thieves.

Pairing up over Skype, Emery and frontman Vella quickly penned what would be the become the foundation of the record, before travelling to the UK last September to add flavours from the English Session Orchestra and the original upright pianos used by The Beatles.

Lead single ‘The Balance’ is hauntingly catchy; led by a deep groove, ambient arrangement and Vella's lilting falsetto. The Balance takes the listener deep into a new world, one that simmers from the past through to the present. A narrative that takes you back to the streets; streets littered with ambience, tension, anticipation and unresolve.

Tenderfoot’s debut EP ‘Beginnings’ was released in August 2016. Closing track ‘Chasing The Rain’ has had over 500,000 Spotify plays. The EP tracks have received multiple syncs, including placements on Disney Channel, Spanish Moto GP, Davis Cup Highlights, Teen Moms UK, Ex On The Beach and numerous BBC Radio Shows. Tracks ‘The Balcony Tale’ and ‘Chasing The Rain’

This is a really nice sound. Vocal is pristine, instrumentation really warm. It takes a bit longer than I'd like to get going.

This is pretty endearing. For fans of Boy & Bear, Frightened Rabbit and other folk bands with animal namesakes.
