Bio

Guitar toting storyteller Thomas Keating has been crafting and performing his unique style of Australiana Emo since he first broke onto the scene with bands Thieves and Good Counsel in 2010. With an impressive career that spanned over six years, three EP releases, one LP release and a tonne of national touring, Keating proved himself to be an Australian songwriter not shy of the hard work and dedication needed to cement a place in our unique and eclectic music scene. To date the young songwriter has performed and toured with an impressive array of great artists including: Oh Mercy, Jen Cloher, Big Scary, Kevin Devine, Gang of Youths, Kim Churchill, Pete Murray, Barry Adamson (The Bad Seeds), Thirsty Merc and many more.

In 2016 after the release of their final EP – Songs by Good Counsel, the band decided it was time to part ways. Turning inwards and reflecting on his song writing roots, Keating decided it was time to embark on a solo career. In 2017 the artist went into Sydney’s Everland studios to record what would become his debut solo album. In 2018 with the release of the artist’s debut single – Begin Again (nominated for the Australian Americana song writer’s award) he commenced to perform and tour again. With the second release, ‘I’ll Break Your Heart’ in August 2018 Keating set out on a tour of America impressing crowds from L.A to Nashville and New York. Returning home, the artist re-entered the studio to record two new singles – ‘Today I’m Staying Home’ and ‘Toward The Cause’. With the release of Today I’m Staying Home in 2019 Keating was invited to join Australian legend Pete Murray on a tour of New South Wales.

With a busy three years establishing himself as a solo artist, Keating has decided it is time now in 2020 to consolidate his efforts and release his debut solo album. Set for release in September, with the first single – You’re So Lovely, Yet You’re So Cruel coming out on the 10th July. The Songwriter will also release a special live album recorded at Sydney’s A Sharp Studios, alongside the release of the studio album.

it swells up nicely and maintains the drive and charm so kudos for that. maybe it just needed to go somewhere else beyond that.
