Bio

Originally from the Mornington Peninsula, Tones journeyed to Byron Bay in early 2018 and took a chance at busking. On the first day she had crowds spilling onto the street – so she quit her retail job and decided to make Byron Bay her new home.

After uploading the track to Triple J Unearthed in February 2019; within hours ‘Johnny Run Away’ received rave reviews from Triple J’s top presenters and had its first spin on the national station the same day. Less than a week later, the track was added to high rotation on Triple J and sat at number one most played song on the station, in addition to Tones And I being crowned Unearthed Feature Artist.

In March, Tones And I announced her first ever headlining shows and within days had sold out her first national tour run.

Tones And I’s first two singles, ‘Johnny Run Away’ and 'Dance Monkey' were recorded with Konstantin Kersting (Mallrat, The Jungle Giants, Tia Gostelow, The Belligerents) and highlights the singer’s strong and unique vocals.

With international touring plans and her debut EP in the works, as well as millions of streams globally - Tones And I is gearing up to share her compelling voice with the world.

"Johnny Run Away is about my best friend coming out to his disapproving father at a young age. The song shows people are dealing with judgement and rejection within their own family not to mention the world."
–Tones And I

"Dance Monkey is about how our appreciation of live performance diminished as we are being instantly entertained with a click of a button on social media."
-Tones And I

It's hard to find something to say about tones that hasn't already been said. She's the most talked about Australian artist of 2019, surmounting stores, streams and charts with ease. This is a new side to her that we hadn't yet seen and if anything, her ascent will continue faster than ever on the back of this one.
