Artist:Tony English

Tony English writes songs that reflect his love for landscapes and history, and an interest in current events. He has written songs about everything from love gone wrong, to English child migrants in Australia in the 1940s, to miners from the 1850s, and refugees seeking to make a life in Australia. In 2002 he won the Lyrics Categry of the Australian Songwriters Association competition for his song Tell Me Now about Muruwuri people in NW New South Wales. In 2009 he won the Roddy Read Songwriting Contest at the Maldon Folk Festival. He plays solo and with his band Pennyweight at venues in Central Victoria.
