Bio

Sunshine Coast artist Trey Cooper feels more comfortable writing songs about loss, unattainable happiness and darkness.

At just 19, he could be forgiven for churning out tunes that shout about sex, drugs and ‘insta’, but he`s drawn towards ideas of emptiness.

His first single `Embrace` was a beautiful bitter sweet soul song exploring the gnawing feeling we experience when that one person we desire is constantly beyond our grasp. It reached number 5 in the Unearthed chart and gained some fans in the music press;

“Trey Cooper is an exciting find for anyone after a mellow yet complex sound. With light handed production and beautifully vulnerable lyricism, here is an artist who will undoubtably make waves.” — HHHHAPPYMAG

“There’s nothing quite like seeing a fresh face in the music industry. Someone who brings dramatics without it becoming condescending. Someone who is sensual without it feeling overbearing. That’s where 19-year-old Trey Cooper comes in.”—AMNPLIFY MAG

Trey plans to commercially release a further 2 songs and an EP in the remainder of 2018.
Before those ‘proper’ full service media releases, Trey needs to get something off his chest; a song that is incredibly close to him, a song with a sound that is unashamedly emotional, a feeling that cannot go unexpressed.

‘The Light Behind Your Eyes’ will be released on all platforms by the end of June 2018, but right now can be sampled on Trey Cooper`s Unearthed page
Trey won`t talk up the song, instead happy to use the words of legendary music writer Warren Zanes;

‘This is the mysterious part about music. How do we know when listening to a song that someone means it? We Just Know. And the people who mean it are generally the ones who are processing some kind of loss through music, and we can hear them negotiating their loss, and we connect to it’.

I think you've hooked a live one here, Trey. Beaut voice, floating with that guitar.

Checked this out after a recommendation from Ayla on Unearthed. Trey's can play alright. It's not the perfect song but it's an indication of his potential no doubt.
