Brisbane 5-piece The Trouble With Templeton are one of the winners of our Harvest Festival competition. They'll be opening Harvest Brisbane with their finely crafted indie-folk on Sunday 18th November at Brisbane Botanic Gardens.
Tell us about your music - how did you develop your sound?
I guess our "sound" is just an accumulation of all the things we love and are passionate about. There's a lot of inspiration from theatre and film, certainly in the way the songs are written, and the rest is a mixture of our combined influences and interests. All of the songs are very different if you look at them from a genre standpoint, but we don't really think of our music as having a particular "sound" we just do whatever feels right and try to make music that we'd love to listen to ourselves.
You’re one of the winners of our HARVEST competition. What can Harvest punters in Brisbane expect from The Trouble With Templeton live show on Sunday 18th November?
A good time! We're just going to go out and do our best to have the most fun as we possibly can, we're very grateful for the opportunity.
What most excites you about playing and attending Harvest 2012?
Being a part of such an incredible lineup and having the chance to play for people who are obviously big fans of music and bands we share the same excitement about. Everyone in the band is looking forward to different acts but I think Beck is one we're all pretty darn excited to see.
What’s your earliest memory of seeing live Australian music?
Mine (Tom) would have to be seeing INXS play at the Brisbane Riverstage when I was 15. I never really went out to see bands live until I actually started playing live myself, I spent most of my time listening to records with my headphones on, but I'm growing increasingly more excited about what Live Australian music has to offer every day.
What’s coming up for you in the near future?
In December we're going on a 12-date east coast tour in support of our newest single "Six Months In A Cast" (details and tickets on our website) and finishing off the year playing Falls Festival in Victoria. We're looking forward to heading into the studio in the new year to finish recording our second record!
