Bio

Formed in early 2016, underachiever play a brand of punk music that is a blend of the musical styles of 90’s pop punk bands like blink-182 mixed with the lyrical stylings of modern emo bands like Modern Baseball and The Smith Street Band. The band has been fortunate enough to play with bands like Waax, Good Boy, Heartsounds (USA) and Woodlock!

underachiever released their debut three track EP “you tried hard” in November 2016, and followed it up with single “Cliche Sports Movie” in May 2017, all of which were recorded/mixed and mastered by Jack Nigro at the Grove Studios! Single cliche sports movie was well received and played on fbi radio almost daily for months, it then earned its first triple j play on short.fast.loud in October 2017!

underachiever have been playing their way through Newcastle and the surrounding areas for quite some time now, gaining positive reviews for the fun and energy shown in their live shows!

Second EP "this time I'll stay good", recorded and mixed by Jonathon Tooke and mastered by Jack NIgro was released February 2018, with a film clip being released in January for the opening track “Restart”.

Film Clip for 'Restart' was filmed and edited by Dave McCarthy.

Those guitars are straight Blink! I really like Daniel's skewed perspective and barking delivery, it's a trump card for this band.

You guys know your way around a scrappy tight pop punk track, and I appreciate that. This one caught my ears!
