UPK (Uwankara Palyanku Kanyintjaku) means everybody creating holding and caring for the future. UPK is a health promotion strategy for the Anangu (people) of the APY Lands in north-west South Australia. Nganampa Health Council, the Anangu controlled health service for this region, recognises the power of music to bring awareness to the important health issues impacting the people who live in remote communities. The 5th UPK album was recorded in September 2011, at Katji Kuta Outstation, near Amata community. UPK represents a rare opportunity for musicians to step up and perform and record their music. songs are available to download on the UPK5 website. A donation is suggested to help finance future recording sesions and continue this initiative.
