Valentine is a musical force unto herself. Her gift is one of those rare voices that is powerful yet still sounds beautiful. Seductive and entrancing, yet explosive and a little dangerous.
Already an impressive songwriter, the Margaret River native has been honing her skills over the past year; collaborating, writing and recording. Teaming up with Joel Quartemain (himself one of the west coasts most accomplished musical talents) Valentine has started producing the work that will define her.
The first song out of the studio was the hypnotic Vampire, which established Valentines musical vocabulary of infectious rhythms, smooth bass lines and layers of catchy keys and guitars. At the forefront: Valentines gorgeous voice and baring, scintillating lyrics.
Transposing powerful, simple songs from the piano or acoustic guitar, Valentine starts on solid foundations, adding nuance and depth in the studio with each intertwining line she introduces.
Though still early in her career, accolades have started piling in for Valentine, who is already a five-time West Australian Music Award nominee and Vanda & Young International Song Competition finalist. Flattering as this may be, Valentines motivation is purely her music. To write the best songs she can, and deliver them with honesty and tenacity.
Alluring, energetic and super catchy, "Hitch" is Valentines hard work and effort on full
display, serving up the perfect first course of an exciting year of new music.
