Velma Grove is the "sweet scented" Melbourne sounds of Maxie Roberts and friends. Following the release of debut EP, Head For Heart, a live band was formed and played around Melbourne and regional Victoria. Last summer saw the band assume a more bolstered lineup, as they found themselves back in studio, working hard on their full-length debut, Older. During the two-month recording period, Velma Grove performed selected material from the new album as an eight-piece, with support slots among the likes of Crooked Saint and Animaux, as well as sweating it out at FarmFest’s annual 'Bender In The Grass' festival. Upon the release of Older, the octet successfully launched the debut record at The Evelyn Hotel, following the sell-out single launch of 'Paper House' at The Workers Club and recently supported Snakadaktal at Melbourne's Forum Theatre. Really sweet rootsy tune. The brass is an inspired addition.
