Velvet Bow are a Melbourne-based, coastal-born group of five, fostering tunes of surf-pop with gusto.

Following the release of multiple well-written Indie tunes, the band made a decisive breakthrough with 2015 release ‘Streetlights’, garnering serious Unearthed attention and earning themselves airtime on Triple J. As well as maintaining their continued presence at By The Meadow (2013-16), the band also earned an appearance at Queenscliff Music Festival in 2015 alongside acts such as Angus and Julia Stone, the Hoodoo Gurus, Harts, Dorsal Fins, Fraser A Gorman and Foreign National. Their successful year was capped off with a 2015 tour along the East Coast of Australia that included sold out shows in Byron Bay and Geelong.

After months spent refining their sound, their most recent single ‘Bombora’ ensured 2016 started in blistering fashion. The track embraces a new surf-pop sound, utilising fuzzy production to complement a captivating opening riff. The new track was an infectious new direction for the band, paired with a similarly compelling film clip.

Back with their second offering for 2016, Victorian coastal outfit Velvet Bow present ‘Lily Fuzz’ - a layered and complex piece that highlights the progression of the young five-piece band now based out of Melbourne. With a heavier focus on lyrics and technique, this track presents a slightly more guarded feel in comparison to other offerings from the band in recent times; a nudge at the idea that these kids from the coast might just be growing up.

Lilly Fuzz was recorded locally with friend and mentor Isaac Barter (Canary, Life is Better Blonde), with mixing and mastering from ARIA nominated producer Steve Schram (Paul Kelly, Little Red, Cat Empire, The Vasco Era, San Cisco). Schram’s embracement of imperfection in performance and heavy faith in the artists’ ability offers an unmistakably unique character to all of his tracks. His fearless approach to production and mixing has earned a #1 single on the ARIA charts with San Cisco’s debut LP, an album he produced, recorded, mixed and co-wrote.

A testament to their growing success and the release of Lily Fuzz, the group are about to embark on a monumental 13-date tour spanning from the Great Ocean Road (Vic) to the Sunshine Coast (Qld), underpinning their plans to release their debut EP late 2016.ria up to Byron Bay and Brisbane.

Fantastic debut single. Brilliant songwriting and instrumentation, with huge vocals and harmonies to go with!
