Bio
Originally meeting each other through countless gigs together in their previous projects, the three best pals from WALKEN soon formed a band of their own and moved into a share house.
Comprised of Matt Cochran (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Patrick Shipp (Guitar/Backing Vocals) and Beej Vaughan (Drums/Backing Vocals), WALKEN are a pop-fuelled frenzy of Alternative Rock, ambitious Punk and Power Pop aiming to satisfy your nostalgia-ridden heart.
After some steady years supporting numerous domestic icons like Violent Soho, DZ Deathrays, Luca Brasi, Tired Lion, WAAX and more, WALKEN have cemented a dedicated fan base across the East Coast of Australia, establishing themselves as an Alternative Rock staple in their hometown of Brisbane.
The band have self-released multiple singles and EP's in the past, including the Triple J Unearthed & 4ZZZ supported ‘Even if It Kills Me’, ‘Eagle Eye’ & ‘Unomi’, all taken from their 2017 EP ‘What’s Your Environment?’ (produced by long-time Violent Soho producer Bryce Moorhead).
In the past 12 months, we’ve seen them play the Brisbane leg of Good Things Festival, tour with The Bennies and The Smith Street Band, complete their own 8 date Australian tour and release two new singles (both of which received airtime on Triple J, Triple J Unearthed and avid play on countless community radio stations).
As we head into 2021, WALKEN are bidding farewell to this absolute gut-crusher of a year with their brand new single ‘Hindsight’ – an ode to reflection, attempted resolve and failed friendships (with not-so-subtle nods to Blink-182 fandom, The Mighty Boosh, Arrested Development and more sprinkled on top).

The awesome switch ups keep you hooked, and I love how you go from punk-next-door vocals to that harsh Gerard-Way-sounding edge. I'm hooked!!

Instantly catchy, charming as hell, revs up exactly when you want it too and I can't help but sing along. Nice stuff!

Write a love song but make it punk. Walken giving us the best of both worlds with this warm 'n fuzzy new one with some horse power under the hood.
