Artist:Wampana Band

Wampana means Rock Wallaby dreaming in Warlpiri language. Wampana band started in Lajamanu in 2007 when lead singer Zedric Kelly asked the traditional owners of Wampana dreaming whether he could start a band with that name. In the late 2000s, Wampana Band played concerts in Billiluna, Balgo, Ali Curung, Yuendumu, Wave Hill and Lajamanu. After a couple of quiet years, Wampana Band has made a comeback in 2013. They have moved to Yuendumu, and recruited some young, up-and-coming musicians. They sing about country, love and family problems. Band members say they hope their music brings people together and makes their communities happy.
