Bio

Sounds like something in between ‘The Beatles’ and ‘Nirvana’ mixed with a feel for the iconic Australian rock scene of the 80’s ‘The Church’, ‘ACDC’ and ‘God’. This is a rural country band nursed in the lazy cradle of Byron Bay. Four salty mates; Froggy, Beggson, Finny and Moffo emerged from the sand dunes in early 2013 with their first songs and has since toured the east coast a few times playing with the likes of; Thee Oh Sees, Kingswood, Mark Sultan, Glass Towers, The Owls, Delta Riggs, Goons of Doom, DZ Deathrays, Voilent Soho and what not. They even managed to squeeze in an Indonesian tour playing with loose dudes Dune Rats and Dead Beat Band. In a stroke of good fortune Waxhead also took part in Big Sound 2013 and topped the year off frothing out at Falls Festival (Byron Bay). Their debut single ‘Ball Buster’, Produced and engineered by George Carpenter, marked the bands first foray into the realms of professional recording and was quickly picked up around the country by community radio stations 4ZZZ, BAY FM, NRG FM, 2SER, RPP FM, UGFM to name a few and even received airplay on Triple J’s Digital radio. Waxhead have again joined forces with George and added in the mastermind of Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys) to create their new single, ‘Small Fry’. Tracked live, ‘Small Fry’ gives a very cheeky vibe combined with the grimey crunchy tones and a fat & warm vintage feel.
Thoroughly enjoying their first year of existence WAXHEAD are looking forward to what 2014 may bring. Expect an A & B side 7” vinyl mid yr and currently working towards their debut EP to be released in the latter half of 2014. Be on the lookout as the tour wagon will be packed, rolled and dutchied to a town near you.
