About

"Whenever Wheat Fields get together, we take a little sky blue sparrow egg out of its antique wooden box. Before anyone picks up an instrument, we carefully pass it around the room, taking turns at holding it up to our ears, beholding the sounds that resound deep within that fragile shell. Some days it sounds like Slowdive, some days The Kinks or Pharaoh Sanders or Flying Lotus. We can never come to an agreement about what exactly we've heard, so Dan will pick up his Bass and imitate it; we all nod our heads in agreement for a while and then Zak will say "Yeah but with a bit of this" as he adjusts his delay pedal while looking over at Maddie who's already humming sweet harmony to Mitchell's melody. Sometimes we write songs that way, other times we just rip off Dead Meadow."
