Bio

Unapologetic and passionate, Whispering Jackie are a trio from Sydney’s western suburbs playing no-bullshit punk-rock music. Their songs tell the experience of trying to forge a life in a city that puts profits before people, where pokies are king, and night culture has all but been snuffed out in favour of large scale development. Led by front woman Sare Jackie, they’ve been making gains since their inception in early 2016, with a sound that’s been described as a marriage of 90s alt-rock bands like Magic Dirt and Hole, blended with the contemporary pop-sensibilities of Best Coast.

Late 2016 saw Whispering Jackie release their debut EP, ‘Social Isolation’, featuring singles ‘My Phone’ and ‘Casino Mate’. Both tracks gained the band solid rotation on 4ZZZ in Brisbane and FBi in Sydney as well as Unearthed radio online.Of ‘Casino Mate’, Triple J's Josh Merriel (short.fast.loud) said “This is ruthless. Nice one!”

2017 saw Whispering Jackie jump back in the studio to record their sophomore EP, ‘For The Moment’. The first single from the EP ‘Breaking Up This Time’, gained the online attention of music news outlets such as Happy Mag, Hysteria Mag and Triple J Unearthed, while it’s accompanying video clip got added to rotation on rage (ABC). After the success of the ‘For The Moment’, Whispering Jackie hit the road and played their first shows outside of Sydney, playing dates up and down the East Coast.

Whispering Jackie have since supported Rick Dangerous and the Silky Bantams, and played ‘King St Crawl’ festival supporting local favourites The Pinheads and Crocodylus. In 2018, the single ‘Been Drinking’ was released to coincide with the creation of a Whispering Jackie branded beer (a collaboration with Sydney Brewery Willie The Boatman called Jackie the RIPA). With momentum starting to build for the band, they’re now working on their third release, due out later this year.

You're vocals are reminding me a bit of Brody Dalle and I am living for it.

This is pure punk rock and I feel like I'm listening to 90's band, Hole. I love this and that breakdown at the end comes in real hot.

Part of me wants to here so much more, part of me is somewhat concerned about Sare's vocal chords, but I feel that is the essence of punk rock. This is ruthless. Nice one! :)
