Artist:White Caves

Conceived in a bedroom in mid 2012, White Caves is the nom de plume of Melbourne’s Darren Cordeux. As a way of coping with his recurring insomnia, Cordeux holed himself up in a room with nothing but his guitar, a collection of effects pedals and a tape machine. Six months and a small ocean of coffee and beer later, White Caves was born. Inspired by the dreamy guitar drones of Spiritualized, Ride and My Bloody Valentine along with the breezy pop sensibilities of The Kinks, Cordeux’s aim was to take these influences and “create lavish soundscapes with virtually no budget”. The result is a sweeping, textured wall of sound executed with the unimpeded rawness of a true DIY artist.
