About
Drawing from a well tried and true, The Widowbirds take their love-affair further, injecting a healthy dose of new school soul and texture to their roots/rock sound – rootsy rock ‘n’ roll, you could call it – the band themselves capable of lulling you gently into a sleepy psychedelic drift, or tearing you some raw new ones the country over with electric verve and style. Formed towards the tail-end of 2010, The Widowbirds have grown exponentially in the time since. Initially an outlet for main songwriters Meli and fellow guitarist Tony Kvesic, it wasn’t long before a self-titled EP was recorded, preceding tours with Paul Weller (Oct ’10), Tony Joe White (May ’11) and The Tea Party’s Jeff Martin (late ’11), not to mention a slew of festival dates and the November 2011 release of debut LP, Shenandoah.
