Bio

Hailing originally from the leafy streets of Sydney, James Shuar swapped sunshine for snow during a first winter in London a few years ago - now he calls that wondrously gritty city home.

Since coming to light as Wild Eyed Boy with a feature vocal on Cosmo’s Midnight track ‘Snare’ (Premiering on Line of Best Fit), he has spent the last couple of years holed up in makeshift studios across London, Berlin and New York creating a distinct sound for himself.

Borrowing his name from David Bowie’s back catalogue, Wild Eyed Boy takes influence from favourites both vintage and modern; Hip hop beats, 80s-flavoured synths and indie pop guitars collide with anthemic vocal hooks and a sardonic lyrical sensibility that often stings of love and loss. He describes it as the soundtrack to a displaced youth – for anyone who has ever been stuck in their own head, fighting to burst out into the real world.

Such a bittersweet song. I went and read the story behind it and - being a musician in a foreign country myself - my heart broke a little </3... So well done on rising outta the ashes and producing such a shimmery, therapeutic falsetto-banger :')

Your voice is all melty and delish. (That was a terrible descriptor, but you get the idea). SO good to see you out doing your own thing. Also, loving those 80's synth throwbacks.
