Bio

From the drenching heat of Australia’s Far North Queensland, Xavier Mayne has finally come to life. Over the past year, XM has been experimenting within new depths outside his indie/folk and rock projects 'The Young Art!' and 'TYA'.

Inspired by the likes of The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Post Malone, Kid Cudi and The Internet, XM delicately blends alluring instrumental production and hooks with raw lyrical flow that will be stuck in your head for days. Teaming up with life-long friends CHASE ATLANTIC (WARNER Bros/ USA), together they have created a masterpiece. XM’s debut single ‘SHLEEPIN’, tells a story of Mayne’s thought processes and excessive behaviour whilst going through an isolated and lonely period in his life. “Even though the song may sound bright, sparkly and sweet, the meaning or story behind it is actually quite dark. I really wanted to encapsulate the sugar-coated, bittersweet façade of drug abuse when dealing with hardship, this is ‘Shleepin’... Story of a lonely boy.” – XM concludes

After finding success in Far North Queensland at a younger age; releasing both an EP (TYA) and a full-length album (The Young Art!) featuring other FNQ acts such as Emma Louise, Mark Myers (The Middle East) & The Medics, supporting and touring with the likes of Ball Park Music, The Jungle Giants, The Belligerents and Birds of Tokyo to name a few. Moving back to his hometown Cairns in 2017, XM decided it was time to explore a new sound.

2018 brings on a new journey for Xavier Mayne, and with a repertoire of unreleased music under his belt, exciting collaborations, multiple shows and tours to come, the horizon is looking quite delectable. The party hasn't even begun!

"From the start, XM has been a therapeutic outlet for me to express and explore the beautiful dark side of my personality and emotions. The acceptance of both all my greatness and all my shortcomings, has allowed me to feel much more grounded and whole as a person. Being able to express these darker emotions through XM, has helped me release these feelings that I would usually suppress, while being more conscious of how they affect my everyday decisions. Life is an unpredictable dance between two opposites. Why side with one when you can embody the best of both?" – XM

"We journeyed into forbidden depths, she called it ‘New Eden’."

What a vibe. Very smooth listen, would highly recommend it to fans of melodic trap. It's right up there with some of the best releases of the year so far.

Solid start for this dude - and it doesn't hurt to have his mates from Chase Atlantic drop in for a feature. The track is heaps bright while the lyrics take influence from the big guns of North American rap rn.
