Bio
Brisbane based musician Your Man Alex Smith sets out to find the perfect blend of musical theatre and rock. Using catchy hooks to sneak contemplative lyrics to the listener, Alex’s genre-hopping theatrical rock is a story-driven experience with a lot of heart.
While Alex is inspired by bands like Queen, Meat Loaf, Pink Floyd and The Protomen, his sound is often compared to the likes of They Might Be Giants and Ben Folds.
Amanda Palmer has also been a huge influence to Alex’s life and music. It was after reading her book ‘The Art Of Asking’ that he started his Patreon, greatly strengthening his connection with his audience and boosting the rate of production of his third studio release ‘Slow Burn’ which is set to release mid 2020
Alex is also the host of podcast My Songs Suck with his close friend James Kehoe. The show is available to stream on Spotify and all podcatchers.
Review
"You wanted songs; I'll give you songs" probably the highlight of the whole experience of listening to this song. I don't know if you're playing a character or if that is your genuine vibe but, it's fantastic. Sweet tune too. Your voice is rich and deep and carries the Americana/country sentiment well.
