Unearthed artists we like
After a sell out single launch in June, folk singer Zoe Elliot is set to launch her EP- Black Dog at Sydney’s iconic Paddington Uniting Church. In an industry that is consumed by image and trend, Zoe Elliot has captivated audiences with raw and honest performances and songs of substance. Her style harks back to the hand crafted lyrics and intricate discordant harmonies of the 70s. She has been likened to Joni Mitchell and Laura Nyro and has graced the stage with the likes of soul legend Renee Geyer, Ireland’s Declan O’Rourker, Sydney’s Patrick James and toured with Matt Corby at his Secret Garden shows. Zoe Elliot has long been a favourite in Sydney’s underground intimate gig scene, playing at ‘The Smallest Gig’, ‘Sofar Sounds’, The Newsagency and countless festivals such as Peats Ridge and The National Folk Festival. However, this will be the first time she has performed with a full-band. Due to high demand, a new round of tickets have just been released and with support acts; Edward Deer and Achoo! Bless You confirmed, this intimate evening is truly an event not to be missed. Black Dog EP will be available from August 17. “Zoe Elliot is one of those natural talents who comes along once a decade. Her easy sultry style, slow sexy smile, the vocal and instrumentation to back it up. ... Her voice is captivating and pure. She glides from pop to folk with ease. This young, vibrant, beautiful songstress has the voice of an angel.” Shashona McCall, Indie Showcase
