About
Originally from a small country town where marriage and Avon representation were the predominant domains of female aspiration, Zoe K was determined to break the mould. Spurning tradition for turntables, she spent years locked in her room mimicking every Patsy Cline, Etta James, Ella Mae Morse and Ruth Brown record she could find, eventually rising to prominence when she swept up the 1223 ABC Female Vocalist of the Year award in 2009. Since then Zoe K's reputation as a talented and dynamic performer has traveled quickly beyond her hometown of Newcastle, and seen her support the likes of Renee Geyer, Vika & Linda Bull, and international blues and rockabilly songstress Imelda May. Zoe K and The Shadow Katz have recently returned from performing at this year's Woodford Folk Festival, their first foray into the national festival circuit. Since then they have completed 3 East/North/South Coast tours. Zoe K is currently in the studio recording her second album which is to be released in 2013.
