Remix Competitions - 2019

2019

We've teamed up with RÜFÜS DU SOL to give you the chance to remix their song 'New Sky’.

In the past, Unearthed have given you access to stems from artists like Lorde, DMA’s and Hilltop Hoods as part of their Remix tradition, and now it’s the RDS boys’ turn for the Unearthed treatment.

‘New Sky’ is taken from the band’s excellent 2018 album Solace, and they’re now waiting for you to get cracking on a game-changing remix.

This year’s winner will be flown to RÜFÜS DU SOL’s headline show at Hobart’s Regatta Grounds in Tassie in January, and be given the chance to perform alongside the band, as well as supporting acts Willaris. K and Lastlings.

HOW TO ENTER:

  • Download RÜFÜS DU SOL’s ‘New Sky’ stems.
  • Create your masterpiece – or masterpieces; you can enter as many times as you want
  • Upload the track to your triple j Unearthed artist page by Midnight on Sunday 20 October
  • Put #RDSRemix in the title so we can find it
  • Make sure you check the T&Cs over at triplejunearthed.com. TLDR; no samples from songs you don't own.

Finalists will be announced on Tuesday 29 October, with the best remixes being played on triple j and triple j Unearthed radio. Stay tuned as we announce the winner the following week.

We’re calling on all beatmakers, producers, rappers, vocalists and bands to put their own spin on DMA’S ‘The End’. We asked the indie-rock titans for the stems to their track and now they’re asking YOU to take the wheel.

Here’s what you gotta do: download the stems to the song (below) and use at one, some or all of them to whip up something special. There are no rules, you can sing, rap, add your own beats, record your own drums, guitar, bass, keys parts. Get creative!

Once you’ve made your remix, upload it to your Unearthed profile by midnight

Then, you upload the track to triple j Unearthed by midnight on Sunday, October 21st, and you make sure you include the hashtag #DMASRemix in the title field.

We’ll play the best entries on the radio, and pick an overall winner. If you win, you’ll get a production masterclass with Kim Moyes from The Presets, two tickets to see DMA’S play live, a triple j prize pack and some srs bragging rights.

IMPORTANT: If your track is still listed as ‘pending’ on the website when the comp closes, that’s ok! We listen to everything that gets uploaded before we make a decision.

Bonus info: The track is 103BPM

We’ll play the best entries on the radio, and pick an overall winner. If you win, you get two tickets to see Lorde play live, as well as a triple j prize pack and some srs bragging rights.

With five hugely creative albums under their belt, Hermitude have established themselves as one of the biggest and most forward-thinking acts in Australian electronic music for the best part of 10 years.  ‘Ukiyo’ is the new single from their killer new record Dark Light Sweet Light, and we’re partnering with the Sydney duo to give you the chance to put your own remix touch on the track.

Here’s how it works: We’ll give you the stems for Bass, Drums, Acapella, and Synths below. Then, you work your magic using your software of choice, and upload it to your Unearthed profile by Sunday, October 18th with #HRMX IN THE TITLE of your song.

What you do is up to you: it’s your remix, so it can be the genre and style of your choosing. If you wanna rap or sing over the stems, that’s cool too! We’ll choose 5 finalists for the comp, and then Hermitude will pick the winner and announce it with Matt and Alex on triple j Brekkie on October 29.

If you win, you get a meet and greet backstage with Hermitude at either their Hordern Pavilion or Festival hall shows end of November, a Hermitude prize pack, a triple j prize pack, airplay on triple j, and THE SUPREME GLORY OF VICTORY.

Don’t sweat it if your remix is still listed as ‘pending’ when the comp closes on October 18th. We’ll listen to everything uploaded with #HRMX in the song title before we make a decision. Good luck!

Remix 'Now You're Gone' produced by Trials

In perhaps a world first, Hilltop Hoods are releasing the stems to their upcoming track Now That You're Gone (produced by Trials) BEFORE they release it on their album out March 9th.

And the stems are only available here! You’ll be able to remix/add your own sounds/or MC over the top before you’ve heard the finished product so you have complete creative reign.

So if you're a producer or MC, download the parts below, then upload the finished product to your new or existing triple j Unearthed artist page and add 'HHRMX' to the title.

Not only could it be played on triple j radio and triple j Unearthed on digital radio, but you could meet the Hilltop Hoods backstage when they come your way on tour, plus get a triple j and Hilltop Hoods prize pack.

Entries are open until midnight Sunday March 4th. We'll be playing the best tracks as soon as they are live on the site during the entry period, and will be picking our finalists after entries close to feature on the radio for a week from Monday March 12th, with the overall winner being announced on Tom & Alex on Monday March 19th.
