Steve has been writing and performing his own music for a number of years as a solo artist and fronting a number of different line-ups. Recently Steve recorded his first single entitled ‘Home’ with Shane O’Mara at his ‘Yikesville’ studio in Yarraville which will be released independently in April. The musicians featured on the first single ‘Home’ are members of Steve’s previous band Berlin Postmark with the addition of the mega talented Lachy Doley on Hammond Organ. The new single and forthcoming album describes the journey of Steve the singer songwriter and draws on influences of contemporary folk and rock and even Alt Country. 2014 has saw Steve perform at the Yarraville Festival, The Aireys Inlet Open Mike Festival, The Rock In the Vines Music Festival, and a score of venues around Melbourne and Regional area’s. Early in his career Steve was “Unearthed” by National broadcast radio Triple J receiving high rotation airplay and a spot on the first Unearthed CD alongside other winners like Grinspoon as part of the prize. Steve’s solo offerings are typical of his “heart on sleeve” style with storytelling lyrics and floating melodies.

I don't have a technical reason why this is my favourite tune I discovered on Unearthed right now. It just is. I could say the melodies, the harmonies, the production or arrangement choices ... But really I just like it!!
