A powerful double-act of angsty, addictive riffs and twin-voiced vocal haze, 'Hindsight' is proof that with the right players, a team only needs two people.

This Brisbane band's star continues to rise and shine. This latest really melds together the indie rock moodiness with moving lyrics and an undeniably affecting chorus.

This'll teach me to stick around and check out the next busker I come across. Sure, this is some excellent glossy pop, but there's a touching narrative heart beating beneath that slick exterior. And that's what really sets it apart.

On first listen, thought this was a charming guitar chugger with subtle electronic trimmings. After multiple spins, it's really sunk under my skin with its bittersweet refrain that just unravels you slowly and surely. Gorgeous!

Late to the party on this one, my bad. Love the balmy beat and webbed guitars, such an elegantly arranged song. Milan's clearly got the drive of someone that won't settle for a song that's anything less than accomplished.

So good to hear an authentic dose of feel-good hip hop soul. This soars with so much positivity, it's bound to bring some sunshine into even the darkest of days.

Asha's got the kind of voice that can lift you up or tear you to shreds. On this track, she does both - building you up with scene-setting verses, then slugging your guts with a mighty chorus and its lyrical backflip: 'if you were my hero/why was I always so sad?' ...Then confidently sings the hurt away. Phenom.

Whatta short, lyrically sharp showcase!
'Teacher said I would be nuthin'/but your children have me bumpin' is late contender for boast of the year. But this also really flexes your skills behind the mic as much as on it. Don't know if you could tell from the reviews but this one's all about That. Voice. There's some epic production that kind of competes but this is clearly the work of a strong writer. Not quite what I was expecting after Chasing Butterflies, but that's a good thing.

This is straight up one of the best songs I've heard this week. And I've been listening to some top quality sh!t. Great production, glam-y synths, nice lyrics and good chemistry. Love it.

Was very excited to twist the lid on this, and pleased to report that it's exactly the kind of sticky sort o' thing I love to spread on my headphones. If your ears are in need of some sweet psych rock, try this jam.

Trust Rubes to meld fanciful lyrics and pop culture with pathos to winning effect. That final explosive chorus is the very definition of delayed satisfaction.

That title suggests a roam through the desert, but to me, the sand this breezy gem conjures is the beach. Maybe it’s the layers of guitar twang and woozy synths, or vocalist Dainis Lacey’s reclined delivery… but probably more likely it’s the sneaky seagull squawk snuck into the mix.

Whatta debut: this is like spaghetti western Angel Olsen, and that super-sharp chorus! I'm getting on the Jaguar Jonze bandwagon now before it gets too crowded.

Ignore that title, the forecast here is bright, gauzy guitar lines with a high chance of charming. Beautiful stuff.

Exhibit Umpteen that Ainslie is a real one. She's telling it how it is on a brave n' bluesy sonic switch-up with a powerful, moving message. Count me among those who love her for what she truly is and what most others try to be: an artist's artist.

It's a singing/writing/rocking hattrick from Angie! Love how this transforms self-doubt into an empowering rock strut. That album can't come soon enough.

Been hanging for a studio version ever since that fried chicken line floored me at a live gig. Yknow, the chook and the incredible vocals, crafted storytelling, devastatingly accessible fretwork, attitude, swagger. I could go on but just trust me, get on the Maccy Train before it leaves the station. It's gonna be a ride.

Oscar Dawson brought me here, and I'm glad he did. Such an intimate, immersive tune. I'll be recc'ing this to all the King Krule/James Blake fans I know.
