Psych-groovers King Colour have established themselves as a serious live act in Sydney over the past couple of years with an indisputable energy and a wild, unpredictable set that has landed them supports with the likes of Harts, Gang of Youths, Magic Bones and many others. Following the release ‘Show It To Me’ in 2014, which achieved rotation on Triple J Unearthed, the boys toured up and down the East coast and had a monster run of gigs in Sydney that kept them completely booked up for the latter half of the year. Among these shows was a packed headline slot at Oxford Arts Factory, with supports from Harts, Magic Bones and the Ruminaters. The boys have recently released their new single ‘Blue Horizon’, a steaming, swirling head-trip of a song that blends 60’s kaleidoscopic rock with a beat-driven hip-hop sensibility. A wildly ambitious track, the single is a serious step forward for King Colour in terms of their DIY production methods and their already sprawling, psychedelic sound. King Colour is currently self-producing their first ever body of work, set for release in mid-2015 with plans to tour it extensively. The otherworldly and expansive ‘Blue Horizon’ is only the first of an exciting collection of psychedelic gems to come.
