Based on the Mid North Coast of NSW, Joshua McGovern & Chris Boaz teamed up under the guise of Little King to create some new and unique pop reggae sounds with hints of soul, funk and hip hop.
Beginning their adventure into the live music scene in April 2015, they were selected through an original song competition to support Donavon Frankenreiter on one of his east coast shows prior to his appearance at the Byron Bay Blues & roots Festival.
Their debut self-titled EP, produced by Alex Gooden (Evermore, Blue Juice, Megan Washington) at Myrtle Street Studios in Sydney, was released in June on the North Coast. Following this, they set out on an East Coast Tour of NSW before their two-week tour of New Zealand’s South Island, where their music was extremely well received. They have also been fortunate enough to receive radio play all over the country through the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project, which aims to help independent artists promote their music.
With influences that include Chet Faker, The Roots, Sticky Fingers, Justin Timberlake, Fat Freddy's Drop and Bill Withers, to name a few, Little King combines their hybrid reggae/blues/soul sound with clever melodies and catchy hooks creating a cocktail of musical tastiness.
Currently in the process of promoting their EP and continually performing on the East Coast of NSW, Little King are tucked away in the Coffs Harbour Hinterland, continuing to write, rehearse and record.
