"Andy" is the brainchild of Brisbane based multi-instrumentalist, Andrew Martin. His eclectic mix of catchy hooks, driving rhythms and textured layers amalgamate to produce music set for audiences worldwide. From performing trumpet with internationally acclaimed brass bands to playing leads in various musicals, Andy’s musical journey is quite unorthodox. His passion for music really shone through when he was asked to study under James Morrison at his Jazz Academy in Mount Gambier in 2015. This is where he met best mate Luke and formed the band, HANDLES. HANDLES went from a 2-piece to a 5-piece in 2017 back in Far North QLD, and the band had quite a successful couple of years; supporting the likes of Alex Lahey, playing at the Commonwealth Games and receiving a no. 1 spot on the overall Triple J Unearthed Charts for their song, “Selfish Lover”. Andy living in Brisbane and studying full-time made it quite a stressful escapade to keep exploring. Towards the end of 2019, Andy met with Ian Haug (Powderfinger, The Church) and since, has recorded some music out at Airlock Studios alongside James See. On all his upcoming songs, Andy has recorded all the instrumentation (excluding drums). Drawing inspiration from Brit Rockers Sam Fender & Catfish and the Bottlemen, guitar virtuoso John Mayer and Australian songstress Gretta Ray, his textured instrumentation, along with his introspective lyrical content, forms a sound ready for audiences across the world. The first taste of his music, “Let This Go Again”, will be released on the 14th of February.
