The Belligerents have consistently plied their trade around the pond of Brisbane for a number of years, to a loyal and growing band of followers. I started following them after a fortuitous hiking trip in 2011, featuring Andy, the groups synth master. I vividly remember punching him in the chest on that trip. After that, I sampled a bit of their music at a live gig and then witnessed them progress from a talented part-time band to hard-nosed veterans pumping out gig after gig to growing crowds. At what is still such a young age, they have seemingly hit that other level required of them to have a good crack at making national rounds. I firmly believe they have the skill, creativity and drive to succeed. I don’t just say that because I feel guilty for punching Andy that one time.
