Ready to bring forth a new wave of inspiring, authentic music Australia has barely touched, CEEKO is a South African-born artist that now calls Melbourne home. However, he draws inspiration from his roots, combining afro-beat rhythms, melodies and spirit that influence his natural R&B/Soul cadence to create a distinctive sound within Melbourne’s growing musical climate.
The word “Ceeko” is derived from an African dialect and means to be a great singer, dancer and performer – a name that CEEKO undoubtedly lives up to through his music and stage presence.
It was just before his high school graduation that CEEKO realised his true calling was music and has never looked back. Ever since, he has been experimenting in the scene, trying to define who he is as an artist. Nevertheless, his ambition and passion for music never wavered.
Throughout his musical journey, CEEKO has achieved many notable accolades. In particular, CEEKO proudly featured on Illstrtd’s massive track, ‘Work Hard’, which has accumulated over 170,000 streams on Spotify alone. He also performed as a guest vocalist on ‘Houdini’, from Spit Syndicate’s 2017 album ‘One Good Shirt Had Us Fly’, which has over 400,000 streams on Spotify.
However, it is on the stage where CEEKO enters his happy place. The mix between mesmerising vocals and dancing leaves his audience in a state of awe. This was best displayed during his immaculate and passionate performance at The Penny Black in the latter of 2018, showcasing the unreleased music he has been working on.
CEEKO signed with Alt. Music Group in 2018 and since then, released his single ‘Uno’, which was a tribute to his heritage and upbringing in South Africa. CEEKO’s key focus now is developing his sound, in which he finds the realm of R&B calling out to him. Tirelessly working on new content with notable producers and other top-grade artists along the way such as Remi, Tentendo, Billy Davis and The Good Lords.
There is much more in store for CEEKO now having released ‘Magic’, produced by UnoStereo, and as the music scene keeps growing, Australia will not be ready for the inevitable takeover and will soon realise the amount of pure talent that exists within CEEKO that lays dormant no longer.
