19yo Cairns singer/songwriter Jelly Oshen has had quite a week - releasing a new slice of his upbeat alt-R&B flavoured indie pop ‘Cigarettes’ on Friday 23 October, alongside the exciting news of joining the Niche Productions Booking Agency family (Wolf & Cub, Gold Member, Thundamentals, sleepmakeswaves etc), and announcing his return to the Brisbane gig scene playing at The Zoo on Thursday 26 November with Emily Wurramara & Mason Watts! "Jelly Oshen has this track down to a science. With gentle background grooves to accompany his vocals, he will have you falling in love with his music in no time." – AMNplify single review "Throw in some Troye Sivan-ish vocals, a dash of electronica and some alt R&B sensibilities for extra flavour and you've cooked up this Jelly Oshen delicacy!" - Triple J Unearthed single review ‘Cigarettes’ was penned by Jelly at the tender age of 16, about how having a greedy lifestyle with no real consequences can cause deep pain inside. “When you smile more and more you die a little more inside” – he speaks of a concept that like cigarettes, greed is addictive and can be just as damaging. This is Jelly Oshen’s 5th single, with his releases already clocking up over 225k streams on Spotify, and gaining airplay on stations around Australia including Triple J, Double J (Australia), and community stations around the country. ‘Cigarettes’ was produced by Stephen “DubKlaat” Maxwell & mixed by Tommy-John Herbert. Jelly has been spending time in lockdown with producer DubKlaat working on his debut album and plans to preview more tracks real soon! A lyricist by the Age of 8, and a multi instrumentalist by the age 12, Jelly found his singer songwriter calling at 14 and has an ocean of material in the bank. He is working on his live show and an EP to come out later this year. Lyrics that stick, his songs transfix, where Lo Fi styles meet a production sweet spot. If you want to understand Jelly Oshen think of Ed Sheeran meets Bruno Mars meet Frank Ocean…add a little island flava and you get Jelly Ocean.

I know this isn't the most recent song but I just have to give props. I never thought depression could sound so beautiful and it envokes so many mixed feelings - I just want to listen to this more and more.
