Tell us about your music. How did you develop your sound?
When we first started writing music we would hear a song we liked and just wanted
to write something similar. Song writing used to be a really long process for us but
we knew the more we wrote the better we’d get at it. Nowadays we don’t put any
expectations on ourselves to sound a particular way and that’s helped us write a
wide range of songs. We’ve still got a lot to learn but I’m really proud of the album
we’re about to release - Alex.

What’s your greatest source of inspiration for making music?
I take a lot of inspiration from other bands and artists that I listen to. If a particular
song, sound, or groove stands out to me I’ll try channel that initial feeling of
excitement and try recreate that feeling in a song of our own.
I also find the physical space I’m in while recording ideas plays a big part in being
inspired as well - Matt.

What can punters expect from a Great Gable live show?
A grand spectacle of flashing lights, drum solos, bass solos, and somewhat witty
banter. Liquorice all sorts really. The songs are usually a bit more energetic live. We
work on curating a set list that flows nicely, adding new parts to old songs to keep us
on our toes. We just want to make sure the punters leave feeling like they’ve had a
rad time - Matt.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given and who was it from?
"Simple daily disciplines - little productive actions, repeated consistently over time
add up to the difference between failure and success" by Jeff Olson -  Chris.

What Australian track would you play to cheer up someone who was crying?
This question made me realise how much melancholy music I listen to. My favourite
feel good song would have to be 'Good Dancers' by The Sleepy Jackson. Got lots of respect for a killer WA band! - Alex.

What Australian track would you play to someone to make them cry?
'Blood' by The Middle East - Matt.

You’re the DJ at a party. The dance floor is pumping. What Australian track do you
put on next?
Something with a fat bass line and groove. 'The Less I Know The Better' by Tame Impala is a classic - Matt.

What was the last local gig you went to? How was it?
The last local gig I caught was Tone City Recording's Christmas party at Mojos in
Fremantle. The line-up was a handful of Perth bands who've recorded at Tone City
studios that were also a bunch of our mates. So overall it was a sick gig filled with
good hangs! - Chris.

Tell us about the bands or people in the Perth music community that inspire you.
There are so many insanely good bands kicking it in Perth at the moment,
Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Spacey Jane, Dulcie, just to name a few. These lords
are definitely ones to be inspired by. Then there are the ones working behind the
scenes, Kelsie Miller (our manager) is amazing, Matt Gio at Rada Studios is a
legend, amongst many more. Perth really is ok!! - Matt.

What are your plans for 2020?
We are going to tour a bunch and cross our first UK/EU tour off the bucket list. We
are going to release our debut album, tour some more, write some more music, take
5 and hang with friends and fam, drink lots of coffee, see new places and meet new
people, and then do it all again - Matt.

Tell us about your music. How did you develop your sound?

It's hard to say but I think my music is probably a mix of folk lyrics and structures with rockier or heavier tones. I just started out writing my songs on acoustic guitar when I was younger, then it kinda just got louder and louder. Now I'm really into playing electric with a band, but it's kind of the same singer-songwriter stuff underneath.

What’s your greatest source of inspiration for making music?

Going out to watch live local shows! I make sure I see a lot of live music in Perth. There are so many great local bands, listening to their ideas and seeing how they do stuff reminds me how much i love playing.

What can punters expect from a Carla Geneve live show?

Some noisy guitar, some awkward stage banter and some (hopefully) loveable stuff-ups.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given and who was it from?

"Mistakes aren't always a bad thing", my Dad.

What Australian track would you play to cheer up someone who was crying?

'Our Place' by Verge Collection.

What Australian track would you play to someone to make them cry?

'Dark Art' by Jen Cloher.

You’re the DJ at a party. The dance floor is pumping. What Australian track do you put on next?

'Ubu' by Methyl Ethyl.

What was the last local gig you went to? How was it?

Airline Food's EP launch. So Good! It was such a great lineup of friends and music that I love! Go listen to Airline Food's EP 'Fragments in Green', it's the best.

Tell us about the bands or people in the WA music community that inspire you.

Artists that are facing any kind of discrimination here, whether it be due to gender, sexuality, race or another kind, but keep on shredding regardless. Also, my band. They're so bloody talented in their own right, also they're always keen to play, or do something fun.

What are your plans for 2018?

We love playing live shows, and there'll be a heap more of those for sure. I think we're also going to be doing some more recording and releases, which is super exciting! Hopefully some shows over east are coming up sooner or later.
