Tell us about your music. How did you develop your sound?

I’ve been writing music for 5 years. It was important for me to take time honing my sound. My style changed throughout my teen years but I feel like it has developed into something I can call my own.

What’s your greatest source of inspiration for making music?

I have an aesthetic that I really want to to be the main focus of my whole project. So whenever I work on music, I have a mood board full of images I use as sources of inspiration. They include locations, clothing, models, colours and anything else that falls into theme. Translating these images into my music is my main inspiration.

You’ve just taken out this years FOMO comp.  Who are you most excited to see at FOMO festival this weekend?

Mura Masa, love his music. The way he pushes the boundaries of pop is exactly what drives me. Also a fan of Amine & Rae Sremmurd, keen to see them live.

What can punters expect from a Tobiahs live show and this weekend at FOMO?

We’ll definitely make it worth while for those who arrive early enough to catch my set... unreleased music and special guests. I have big plans for my live show in the years to come. The live shows will be bringing my aesthetic to life and this is super important to me.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given and who was it from?

“Less is more” from my manager.

What Australian track would you play to cheer up someone who was crying?

'Innerbloom' by Rufus.

What Australian track would you play to someone to make them cry?

'Innerbloom' by Rufus.

You’re the DJ at a party. The dance floor is pumping. What Australian track do you put on next?

'Losing It' by Fisher, of course.

What was the last local gig you went to? How was it?

Jakubi, one of the most energetic shows I’ve ever been to.

Tell us about the bands or people in the Melbourne music community that inspire you.

Jah Loon, his style is so fun and full of feels.

What are your plans for 2019?

To release more music and play some live shows. I definitely have not released enough music and this is the year I make up for it.
