Over the short time they have been together, Adelaides most energetic and flavourful 6 piece Mum Thinks Blue have been ticking goals off their bucket lists. Having formed in early 2019, the band pushed themselves onto the establishing Adelaide music scene with their constant energetic and memorable gigs. The band is described as a mix between alternative and funk and have formed their own unique sound dubbed ‘Sunshine Funk’.
The band have three singles released, with all of them progressing the bands sound forward into new territory.
The release of the bands latest single Broken Fence saw the 6 piece sell out their launch at Jive. Having attracted many punters from across Adelaide over the short time they’ve been together, the band is quickly establishing their own audience. ‘Broken Fence’ is a powerful and intoxicating song that makes you want to dance. The lyrics behind the song contrast with the bright tone the instruments provide, creating a reminicent feel to the story being told. The new release is a mix of the bands sound as well as adding a disco type feel to the song.
Mum Thinks Blue are a tight-knit group which is visible from their onstage presence and groove when it comes to performing. The bands use of saxophone and keys along with groovy bass lines is what started to influence the band to mould their sound.
