Emily Rink is a 19-year-old singer/songwriter born and raised in Brisbane. Drawn to music at an early age, singing became a fundamental part of her life. Networking with other local talent allowed her to grow, meet and collaborate with other musicians and artists. Passionate about music and very free-spirited, music is the perfect creative outlet. Emily has been writing original music from the age of 16 and has showcased it over the last year. She released her first single ‘She Doesn’t Know’, on Spotify, in May which has reached over 25,000 hits to date. Her voice has a similar sound to Florence + The Machine, London Grammar and Graace as she has a deep husky tone in the lower range and a sweeter innocent sound in the higher register. Inspired by Boy and Bear, Art of Sleeping, Matt Corby and Vera Blue, her latest single ‘Restless’ explores self-criticism and the emotions and events associated with it. Still figuring out her style, Emily is feeling her way through each genre to develop a specific sound; this song has an indie rock vibe to it. Restless was co-written by Sunny Coast producer/singer songwriter, Christian Patey, and produced by Jordan Power in Byron Bay. Christian’s experience and clever guitar riffs combined with Emily’s story telling lyrics and vocal melodies really bring the song to life. Producer, Jordan Power, has worked with the likes of Boy and Bear, Angus and Julia Stone, Dope Lemon, Kasey Chambers and SKEGS. The session drummer Grant Garathy, who has previously played for John Butler, gave the song that extra kick it was looking for. Restless’ catchy guitar riffs and strong emotional melody make it a song you need to listen to!
