Tell us about your music. How did you develop your sound?
We all grew up listening to bands like Pantera, Metallica and Silverchair, and grew into hardcore and punk so we all bring in this big cross section of different sounds that create the Bare Bones sound.

What’s your greatest source of inspiration for making music?
Personal enjoyment. The most important thing to us is to write music that the 5 of us want to listen to and enjoy playing.

What can punters expect from a Bare Bones live show?
To have fun with the 5 of us, lots of sweat and lots of beer.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given and who was it from?
"It's better to put your boot in mud than get mud in your boot"

What Australian track would you play to cheer up someone who was crying?

What Australian track would you play to someone to make them cry?
Cold Chisel - Khe Sanh. There'll be tears in my vb in no time

You’re the DJ at a party. The dance floor is pumping. What Australian track do you put on next?

What was the last local gig you went to? How was it?
Thesis Final Sydney show at Wasted Years. Was excellent, huge turn out from the Sydney punk scene with a great bro vibe.

Tell us about the bands or people in the Sydney music community that inspire you.
The Sydney scene has some amazing talent. Bands like Vices, Endless Heights, Perspectives, Gay Paris to name a few that are doing great and unique things. It encourages other bands to keep things fresh.

What are your plans for the rest 2014 and in to 2015?
To keep touring, expanding our reach and keep releasing music, perhaps a full length album!

Tell us about your music. How did you develop your sound?

The Windwaker sound has been developing quite drastically over the past year for a number of reasons, the main reason would be the fact that during the writing period of our most recent release 'Empire' we were all heavily apart of the writing process and all had the mindset of not being bounded by any sort of genre we may have been labelled in the past. We firmly believe this made the writing process much more enjoyable and far less stressful ending with a result we think is our best material to date.

What’s your greatest source of inspiration for making music?

As a band we all vibe all kinds of music, there has never been a shortage of new music to hear between all of our personal tastes, so I think our greatest inspiration comes from the diversity we hear in each others favourite artists. It’s easy to get trapped in a particular genre when its the only you listen to so for this very reason I believe it’s a strong source of inspiration for Windwaker.

What can punters expect from a Windwaker live show?

A very high energy band to say the least! People can expect a show where the room doesn't stop moving and is full of good vibes and good times! We want to have fun with our live shows so crowd involvement is always a must.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given and who was it from?

The best advice we've been told is simply to have fun, I honestly couldn't tell you who has said this as we have been told this by several people in and out of the industry and its definitely something the band sticks by because we all set out playing music to have fun and that’s one of the big reasons why we all never strayed from our musical paths.

What Australian track would you play to cheer up someone who was crying?

Plini with 'Handmade Cities'. Beautiful instrumental track absolutely full of good vibes!

What Australian track would you play to someone to make them cry?

Polaris with 'In Somnus Veritas'. It's got a strong message and accompanied by music that'll strike you in the 'feels'.

You’re the DJ at a party. The dance floor is pumping. What Australian track do you put on next?

Cold Chisel with 'Khe San'. Absolute banger.

What was the last local gig you went to? How was it?

The last local show was at Stay Gold with Kids in Control, Bell Park, Stand Tall, Future Static and a Paramore cover band called Paracore. It was great! all the bands in Melbourne are evolving and really making this scene so diverse and it’s even better to be able to call a lot of these people our dearest friends.

Tell us about the bands or people in the Melbourne music community that inspire you.

The Melbourne based band 'Ocean Grove' has been a great inspiration to us all, seeing a band we've watched for years grow into this unstoppable force of nature thats touring all over the world with their new unique sound and just absolutely killing it in every avenue they can. It’s very motivating and only makes musicians like ourselves strive for greater heights in our careers.

What are your plans for 2019?

2019 will be a year of touring and writing, the grind never ends and we love it!

Tell us about your music. How did you develop your sound?
We started out in a country town where the only other bands were hardcore, so we had quite a heavy influence right from the start but also wanted to be melodic and poppy. We haven't ever tried to push our sound in any certain direction, it just kind of happens.

What’s your greatest source of inspiration for making music?
We are inspired by all the bands (especially Australian ones) that make incredible music and manage to tour the world as their full time job.

You’re one of the winners of our Groovin The Moo competition. What can punters in Maitland expect from the Eat Your Heart Out live show?
Hot riffs and hair flips.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given and who was it from?
"Rock out the stage" - Mum

What Australian track would you play to cheer up someone who was crying?
Friday On My Mind by The Easybeats.

What Australian track would you play to someone to make them cry?
Laika by Wil Wagner. :'(

You’re the DJ at a party. The dance floor is pumping. What Australian track do you put on next?
Vitriol by Bluejuice. Banger!

What was the last local gig you went to? How was it?
Stepson and She Cries Wolf at Drone in Newcastle. Both super hardworking heavy bands that put on one hell of a tight show.

Tell us about the bands or people in the Newcastle music community that inspire you.
As far as bands go, definitely Trophy Eyes! They've worked super hard and written killer songs, and it's paid off.
And Bec Solman, the owner of Drone, one of the only all ages venues in Newcastle. Keeping the all ages scene alive!

What are your plans for 2016?
We have some new material very close to being released, and after that we hope to be back out playing shows around Aus as soon as possible!

Tell us about your music. How did you develop your sound?

I guess we just jammed out and talked about what we wanted to create and came to a conclusion after trialling a bunch of different styles!

What’s your greatest source of inspiration for making music?

The power of creativity. Knowing every time we sit down to write, that it's possible for us to create something completely new.

What can punters expect from a DREGG live show?

Something you've never seen before. It's funny, it's serious, it's dark, it's light-hearted. It's a bit of everything. We're there to entertain mentally, musically and visually.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given and who was it from?

I'm a barber and when I was an apprentice at Culture Kings I was lucky enough to give the Aussie rapper 360 a haircut. I'll never forget him telling me how things didn't start happening for him until he learned to enjoy every success, whether it be small or huge.

What Australian track would you play to cheer up someone who was crying?

'Be Like You' by Esoterik.

What Australian track would you play someone to make them cry?

'Tiny Angel' by 360.

You’re the DJ at a party. The dance floor is pumping. What Australian track do you put on next?

'Fire' by Ivan Ooze.

What was the last local gig you went to? How was it?

Invasion Fest, it was awesome! A whole bunch of homies were playing and it just had the best vibe.

Tell us about the bands or people in the Melbourne music community that inspire you.

I'd say it's the scene as a whole. I only moved to Melbourne 3 years ago and one thing I've really noticed here is how all the different music scenes get along. It's dope!

What are your plans for 2018?

Hopefully a bunch of tours! We haven't toured off our new release yet so it would be awesome to get out there and take these songs on the road. Would love to get another song or 2 out as well!
